Circular forming
A circular elevation or depression is made in the sheet.
Cups
Production of cups in a single step using a forming tool. Suitable for their use both as spacers and supports, they can also be used as support plates or stiffeners.
Furthermore, if we combine them, for example, with a hole contour at the top of the cup, other applications are possible such as counter sinks for screws or drains for liquids.
The cups can be formed both upwards and downwards, which allows them to be used independently of the orientation of other punching elements.
Production of a cup:
To produce a cup, follow these steps:
1. When producing a cup, special attention must be paid to the thickness of the sheet metal and to the choice of material. The following guidelines apply to different materials:
Aluminium and steel: 1mm ≤ s ≤3 mm.
Stainless steel: 1mm ≤ s ≤ 2mm
2. The height of the cup H should be chosen between 0.5 mm and 5 mm.
3. The angle α takes values of between 60° and 179°.
4. The minimum distance A between two cups depends on the tool and will depend on the spreader.
5. The contours of the holes with diameter D1 at the tip of the cup can have a maximum diameter of the plateau.
Why can cups be used as a production element?
- The machine execution times are shorter, and, therefore, the prices are lower, as only one operation is necessary.
- The cups can be designed and customised for each application, therefore they offer a wide range of applications: from mechanical engineering to the design itself.
- Suitable tools are widely available that aid component cost reduction.
